WATERFOWLING AMERICA

For way too long, the history of duck hunting has been sorely neglected by historians. Well, that has been remedied with the publication of WATERFOWLING AMERICA, Volume One, Two and Three.

VOLUME ONE begins 40,000 years ago with waterfowling as it was practiced by early modern man, by the later Egyptians, by the Europeans of the Old World, by the explorers and settlers of the New World. In greater depth, the duck hunting history of the East Coast states is covered, from Maine to Florida, including such rich duck-hunting areas as the Great South Bay of Long Island, Barnegat  Bay, Chesapeake Bay, Currituck Sound, the rice fields of Georgia and South Carolina, and the St. Johns River in Florida, plus much more.

VOLUME TWO depicts the duck hunting history for those states that have a waterfowling history of the upper Mississippi Flyway (from Ohio to Minnesota, from Michigan and Wisconsin, to Iowa and Illinois), the Central Flyway (from North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska to Kansas, to Colorado and Nevada) and the Pacific Flyway (from Utah to Oregon, to Washington, to California). In addition, there are chapters on market hunting, sport hunters and conservation.

VOLUME THREE covers the waterfowling history of the states of the lower Mississippi Flyway, from Missouri to Louisiana; it also includes Texas.

In each volume, waterfowling history is covered to the 1940’s, and in some cases up through the present time.
